ドイツの経験から考えるESD（持続可能な開発のための教育） : ドイツ・ユネスコ委員会訪問を契機として

Abstract

本稿は，筆者が2018 年8 月におこなったドイツ・ユネスコ委員会（DUK）訪問調査の成果である．DUKがドイツのユネスコおよびESD への関与において果たす役割について述べた後，DUK スタッフへのインタビューから得た成蹊のESD 活動に対するヒントを，①機関包括型・全校型アプローチ，②学校間の連携と交流，③ノンフォーマル・インフォーマル教育の推進の３つの柱に整理する．調査結果からは，ESD とは学内外の多様な主体が協働しておこなう活動であること，教育機関の役割はそうした協働のためのハブや「場」の提供であることが浮き彫りになった．また，ESD の推進とはすなわち，自分たちがこれまでおこなってきた教育をSDGs やユネスコの文脈でとらえ直す作業だということも確認できた．成蹊学園もまた，建学精神に基づく教育や地元に根ざした活動をESD の枠の中に位置づけなおすことで，自らの価値を再発見できると考えられる． In August 2018, the author visited the headquarters of the German Commission for UNESCO (DUK) and interviewed its staff members on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Germany. The result of research can be summarized in three hints to Seikei School’s ESD activities: (1) whole-institutional and whole-school approach, (2) inter-school collaboration, and (3) non-formal and informal education. Some of the current ESD practices carried out by members of Seikei School actually fit quite well to these three approaches. The German experience tells that ESD is made possible by collaboration of many diverse actors within and outside campus. Comments by DUK staff also underline the importance to re-evaluate conventional educational activities of each school within the context of UNESCO and SDGs. For Seikei School to forward ESD, it is indispensable to reflect on its tradition, and to rediscover the unique value of its past and present activities within the local community.
